The series of notes of which this is a part show various views of Hong Kong Harbor from 1840 to approximately 2003. This note depicts what the city and harbor looked like when I visited there while in the Navy in the 60's and 70's. The face of the note shows a dragon bird- a symbol of good fortune. This gem uncirculated note was worth about $75 U.S. face value when issued twelve years ago. It has been replaced by new issues since. High denomination notes of which this is one tend to gain very well in value as collectables over time. Both the Standard Chartered Bank and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank have been around since the 1840's and are iconic issuing institutions.
