I've been using the Fuji X-E1 with Fuji 18-55 zoom lens (a fantastic lens by itself). But I needed a wider reach and I've been eyeing this 16-50 XC zoom lens for some time now, but I wasn't reach to pay the $399 retail if you purchased it separately (and they're hard to find separately). Then I saw it for a fantastic price on eBay (somebody who separated it from their camera), so I purchased it. Considering that this lens is made out of plastic (with the exception of the optics of course), I didn't expect much - but wow, was I pleasantly surprised. This is a very sharp lens and provides a very welcomed 24 MM reach on the wide end of things. The color renditions and contrast levels are superb, in my opinion. And I could see no discernible difference between the Image Quality (IQ) of this 16-50 from the much more expensive 18-55, which has a much better build quality. So I never thought I'd say this, but I'm keeping this Fuji 16-50 XC lens permanently on my X-E1 - it's that good, and I don't say that without really meaning it. So I made out big time, spending only $168 for this lens on eBay (yes, it was new). But price aside, I highly recommend this lens. Ben Herrmann Fuquay Varina, NCRead full review
I'm not a specs guy, so I go by how a lens reproduces the scene I want to capture, and while this is technically an entry level lens, it feels good, looks good on my X-E3, and captures sharp images with sufficient AF speed. If you want a more professional lens, go for the XF line, but if you want value and quality, this is the lens for you.

Well not impressed with the build its very platic to the touch. Looks cheap... but you take some shots and cant help feeling surprised. Its sharp, af is good enough, and it weighs nothing. I paid about $150. I wouldnt pay much more.

I have more than one Fuji X body. I wanted to add lighter lenses to my other XF lenses. I read up on the XC lenses and thought I would give this one a try. It is a very good lens and, although mostly plastic, does not feel like a cheaply made lens. More importantly, the image quality is excellent. Altogether a very good lens and a very attractive price. This performs more like a top line lens than what you would expect from a "kit" lens. Well worth buying.
