Don't hesitate to buy - here's why
I think this Kindle is much under rated in reviews I have read. I didn't imagine it could be so much lighter that I'd even notice a difference, but I do, and it's a dream to hold. I think those that report poor battery life don't have the cover fully connected, not just magnetically, but by the pins. Or possibly they aren't understanding how the battery works in conjunction with the extra battery in the cover. Anyway, when I got it the pins had disconnected a bit in shipping which I didn't even notice. I charged it and the charge got me through about 4 hours. When I had to recharge so quickly I checked and discovered the pins weren't completely connected when I had assumed they were from the fit of the cover. That made the difference! And now no worries about the battery lasting through many many hours. I can't tell how many because it hasn't run out of battery yet and we're at 14 hours and still counting. And I love the buttons for page turning! And the screen, even in bright light, is easy on the eye and clear. This is the best Kindle ever!!! And the price? Why does everyone think it is so high??? The cover isn't just a cover. It includes a second battery which is why you get prolonged battery life. So for the price you are purchasing the Kindle, a very nice leather cover that folds the way you want it to without being stiff or resistant, AND an extra battery for extended battery life. Try pricing those individually and you might feel the price isn't unreasonable after all.
