You're covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee
If the seller doesn't respond within 3 business days, or can't resolve the issue, you can ask eBay to step in and help. See Ask eBay to step in below.
How your return gets resolved
- Open a return request — Tell us what happened and why you want to return the item.
- Seller has 3 business days — The seller can accept the return, issue a full refund, offer a partial refund, or respond with a message.
- Send the item back — If accepted, send the item back using the seller-provided or your own label.
- Get your refund — Usually within 3-5 business days of the seller receiving the item back.
If the seller doesn't respond or doesn't resolve it, you can ask eBay to step in at any point after 3 business days. See how below.
Open a return request
When you request a return, the seller should get back to you within 3 business days. If the seller doesn't respond, or you're unable to resolve the issue with them, you can ask us to step in and help.
To request a return, select the item from your recent purchases, or use the button below. You can also start a return request from your Purchases in My eBay.
Open a return request - opens in new window or tab
How the seller may respond to your request
The seller has 3 business days to accept and offer a full refund, offer a partial refund, offer a replacement or exchange, decline (if you changed your mind and their policy says no returns, or you missed the deadline), or ask you for more details.
Send the item back
Once your return is accepted, we'll email you asking you to send the item back. Ship it by the date in that email to avoid delays. If you're buying the label yourself, use a tracked service. Items worth $750 or more need signature confirmation. See return shipping for buyers for who pays.
Important
Repack the item carefully. If it's returned used, damaged, missing parts, or damaged in shipping because it wasn't packaged correctly, the seller may deduct from your refund — see Condition of returned items policy.
Trouble with your return label?
If your return label won't print, won't load, or the QR code won't scan, don't worry — you don't need to start over. Ask eBay to step in (see below) and we'll help you get a working label so you can complete your return.
Get your refund
Most sellers refund as soon as they get the item back. Refunds typically arrive within 3-5 business days of the seller receiving your return, back to your original or selected payment method. You can check the status of your request at any time to find your refund deadline.
We'll review the case details and aim to resolve it fairly, usually within 48 hours. If you disagree with our resolution, you can appeal with new information within 30 calendar days of the case closing.
Close a return request
Changed your mind about returning? Go to Purchases - opens in new window or tab, find the item, select More actions, then See request details, then Close your request, choose a reason, and select Confirm.
Remember
You can't reopen a return request after closing it, or submit a new one for the same transaction. If you think you picked the wrong reason, keep the request open and message your seller instead.
Misue of returns
Buyers may not misuse our returns process — for example, requesting a return and sending back a different item. See the Abusive buyer policy for more examples. Full details on eligibility and coverage are in the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy.
