Single-use plastic products policy

This policy helps our members understand and follow environmental legislation, regulations and requirements globally.

Many single-use plastics aren't allowed internationally.

What is the policy?

Single-use plastics (SUPs) are items that are used once, or for a short period of time, before being thrown away.

Certain SUP products are prohibited in many countries. When listing SUPs on eBay, they cannot be shipped internationally. In addition, you should follow any state or local restrictions on these products before shipping domestically.

The following single-use plastics cannot be shipped internationally:

  • Checkout bags for groceries and other goods
  • Cutlery such as forks, knives and spoons
  • Straws and stirrers
  • Food and beverage containers, plates and lids
  • Cigarette filters
  • Cotton bud sticks
  • Balloons and sticks for balloons
  • Wet wipes for personal care and cleaning
  • Sanitary towels, tampons and tampon applicators that contain plastic
  • Non-biodegradable plastic tea bags
  • Confetti
  • Ring carriers used to hold multi-packs of beverages (for example, six-packs)

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
