It supplies power to the laptop and charges. The battery seems to fit into the battery bay. However, the battery I received is approximately 0.5mm thicker (varying across the battery) than the battery I already had. This means that the back plate on the laptop that covers the battery cannot be closed. I have taped the laptop together at the moment, I will have to buy another one to replace this one.
