I was able to use this mount on an exterior steel storm door by changing the geometry of the door hook. As shipped, door would not close due to interference with the steel frame. Was able to bend the hook downward about a quarter inch in and then back out perpendicular followed by a new downward bend resembling the original hook sharped bend. Problem is because most "good" wreaths are too thick to mount in cavity between the wood and steel/glass doors.
