Although the advice was for an Atari 2600, I m not sure there s such an option for my Atari 800 & I do notice the long I/O cable varies in interference depending on proximity to the back of the flat screen TV - an option which didn t exist when the Atari was first made. In any case, this is no reflection on the switchbox, which works as advertised and is recommended for most situations.
