    Wix name brand quality products not so much the gasket

    Not much to review on a fuel filter cartridge. It fit properly, looks exactly like the filter it replaced, and is made by Wix a quality brand, which I prefer over generic. I wrote this review after installation but today I had to remove it due to a leak from the housing. When I took the filter out to use it on another housing I found the gasket expanded and twisted so that it can’t be reused. Maybe it was rubber not neoprene or another gasoline compatible material.

    Fuel Filter in line with Carb in engine Compartment

    Used on many 1950-60 Fords and Chevrolets. Came with new rubber like Gasket to seal glass bowl filter housing to fuel line filter cover. Used on T-Bird 1957 D Bird. Older filter wads leaking fuel once engine started and mechanical fuel pump applied pressure to carb inlet line. Old filter gasket was hard and had decreased in diameter, so new flexible gasket solved the dangerous fuel leak problem. Remember on older collector car that haven't been run in a couple of weeks: always start with the hood up and an observer standing by with a fire extinguisher, these cars develop leaks after not running for awhile. 250cal
