The battery it came with was the bare minimum lead-acid type to get it started. Of course it died. I found this deep cycle gel-type from expertbattery with well over TWICE the power of the original battery for a few dollars more. When I went to charge it on my smart charger the status showed it already being at 100% charge, at 13.0V. Thank you expertbattery for giving me great value and customer service and fast shipping
