      Mossberg 500 with Heat Shield

      I think this forend is extremely comfortable and well worth 30$. The product itself is great and I wish they designed one just for mossberg 500. I’m writing a review for those of you with Mossberg 500s with heat shields. I was able to make it work but it did require some work. I used a piece of leather and a vice to push in the sides of the heat shield. Then I had to use a dremel and some fine grit sand paper to file down the forend where it was still rubbing on the heat shield. I hope that helps those of you wanting to try. It’s probably still gonna rub on my heat shield and leave some marks but I think it’s well worth it over a stock forend.

      Doesn’t fit

      In order to make it fit you have to remove a whole bunch of material from the inside and then it doesn’t even look right and catches on the receiver when you rack the slide, they should specify that it’s not for the shockwave, and then design one specifically for it!! What a bummer!!!

      Nice - if it fits. Edited to add - fixed it.

      Editing: Took a litte bit off the anti-rotation collar "ears" - fits fine now. Magpul needs to look into this issue. Found that fit on my 590A1 18.5 barrel with ghost ring sights - the anti-rotation collar rubs on the barrel toward the end of the stroke and makes the action difficult to cycle. Work with Dremel or a small file would clean it up. Research shows that others have run into the same problem with the 590A1s. And yes - I used the correct collar - the one for the 500 doesn't even allow barrel installation. YMMV

      Mossberg 500

      I do like this add on. It's magpul quality and looks good and not all wobbly. Only thing I really don't like is it won't fit with heat sheild. So for me it shows wear on barrel. I can fiction but would really like this and be able to use heat sheild as it makes the shotgun look nice.

      Do it

      If your on the fence and can't decide whether to buy it or not, do it. This is the best decision I made in upgrading my Mossberg 500. This and the XS big dot front sight makes the gun a great home defense shotgun.
