I still have some lasers from old stock from the 90s and they look a bit different - they are in original Sony boxes - Made in Japan, Made in France, the sent laser is in a box similar to the new knockoffs from China without any manufacturer information. The paper number labels on the original lasers also look a bit different - on the sent laser they were probably printed fairly recently, they literally shine with newness. :-)
