Originally launched in February 1984, the Lifetime network built a substantial fan and audience base around its platform of movies, series and specials geared largely toward women. Unsurprisingly, the channel frequently aired made-for-television films produced for prime-time, which often emphasized melodrama and depicted women struggling against difficult, threatening obstacles. This set from Echo Bridge Entertainment features four such telemovies, each headlined by a major actress. The 1992 outing THE GOOD FIGHT stars Christine Lahti (HOUSEKEEPING) as a rookie attorney who dares to take on tobacco companies; THE RENDERING (2002) stars Shannen Doherty as an artist who survives a brutal attack by a stalker, and then comes face-to-face with the knowledge that her husband may be a sex criminal; THE HAUNTING OF LISA (1996) toplines Cheryl Ladd , in the tale of a mother and her little girl who rely on psychic premonitions to catch a ruthless serial killer; and DANGEROUT EVIDENCE: THE LORI JACKSON STORY stars Lynn Whitfield as a civil rights activist who fights the U.S. military in court to free an innocent man.
