The gamepad wasn't tested at all, it isn't getting power when a fully charged battery pack is inserted (likely due to faulty internal pins). Seller was contacted, but no response. Upon hindsight, I believe this may be a scam, as the shipping cost was higher than the item itself (which makes returning the item costly).
