I will say the box did get damaged in transit resulting in a couple of the casters poking out, but after fully unboxing and putting together, was pleasantly surprised. It is refurbished, not 'open box/new', and has a bit of a paint/chemical smell. Functionally, it's 100% working as designed, and other than a couple little marks, looks/feels quite newish. I'm happy.

The chair was damaged in transit by the shipping company, and Madison honored their return policy regarding the damaged chair. The chair itself was otherwise a high quality/very well done renewal that's essentially like buying a new chair both visually and operationally (but at a substantial discount). If you know what you want in a chair and are ready to commit but want to save $$ vs buying brand new (at ridiculous prices nowadays), this is by far the best choice IMO.

Madison Seating did a great job packaging and protecting it so I don't blame them at all. I think FedEx handled it poorly. They were quick to respond and address my issue and when I decided to process a return they processed it within 10 minutes. The chair was in good quality otherwise, condition was as described, it's a great value, and the appearance was very good.
