    Black Max High Value

    I am a professional guide and product specialist in the industry. I do not work for ABU or it's parent, Pure Fishing. The Black Max continues to be the best and most controllable baitcaster on the market for under $100.00. Most of my own reels cost considerably more but I still have two in my boat. I often buy them as gifts for novice fisherfolk because they can be tuned to cast "thumbs free". Great reel to learn on, durable, well priced and when you move up you will still use the BM as a second reel, back up or loaner.

    Can 18 lb of drag handle muskie and giant bucktails? Beastmode!

    I am pleasantly surprised. I lined up with 100lb braid thinking it would surely backlash but it didnt . I figured 8 in bucktails with size 12 blades would be 2 much for it but the gearing was stout , and smooth . 3 days and it got its chance to fight, and manhandled a 42 in muskie . Its small but all balls. If it can take that abuse it can handle normal conditions with ease .

    Smoothest baitcaster I have tried yet.

    I never liked Baitcasters until I tried this one. So much smoother and less likely to birdnest on you than anything I have tried up to this point. I still likey spinning gear for light lures, but this thing is great for anything 1/2 oz or better.

    Damn nice reel!

    Took the Black Max fishing today and it did a fine job. I hooked a big bass but the damn thing threw the lure at the last minute. The reel performed perfectly with just regular ole 10 lbs monofilament line. I like it so much bought another, can't beat $32 for a good reel.

    Fair Deal

    A fair deal compared to new. Free shipping helps. Tough little reel that I use for shallow wreck fishing. Black sea bass, tog, ling, porgy, trigger fish, etc. Love the max drag of 18lbs. No, there not designed for saltwater use but when cared for last up to 2 years.
