    Fire hazard; may have been used and returned but sold as new

    The adaptor arrived in a box and not in the new unopened package shown in the auction picture. The 12v cord overheated too hot to touch upon its first use in this adaptor. I unpluged it to allow it to cool then tried again in a different outlet. It was okay for a few hours but then it melted catastrophically within 24 hours of the first use. I am returning it to Wagan directly for a replacement as it is under warranty and my hope is that it will be an unopened product that will perform safely. My concern with this product is the mixing of amps and volts and ac power make for a little unstable electrical senario. Do not leave this product plugged in and unattended.

    melted plug

    used it for the first time this past weekend … it melted the power cord plug to my brand new cooler on the end that plugs into the converter … not at all happy with it … now I have a new cooler I can't use …. do not buy this item
