It cradles you more than the traditional tight canvas cots, it is also quieter when you toss and turn on it. It is narrower so side sleepers will not find this as comfortable as an XL cot with more space. I do wish the carry bag were bigger so I could fit the cot and pad all together.

The instructions are just small images. There are no words or steps to describe how to put the kennel together. So, yes, I would say worse than IKEA.
