    The metal wheels make it easier for the engine to pull the cars. I have tested this with the original wheels and the metal wheels. The metal wheels won out. Not only could the original cars, but could put more on the track and the engine pulled them with little effort.

    Walthers HO metal wheel sets

    Wow! These wheel sets are amazing. Makes my rolling stock like new as I am replacing all of the plastic wheel sets with metal ones. These Walthers wheel sets are very durable and look great on my rolling stock--box cars, gondolas, cabooses, hoppers, etc. When replacing wheels with plastic trucks you will need to use a Micro Mark truck tuning cutter or use an exacto knife to cut a little of the plastic away so the wheels will spin--because if you don't, the wheels will be too tight to spin freely. They look and preform 100% better than the plastic ones. Plus the fact that metal wheels do not attract dirt and grime like plastic ones do. When you spin plastic wheels they become statically charged which attracts the dirt and grime which metal ones do not. I would recommend these wheel ...

    Everything I expected after doing the research

    These wheel sets are everything I expected after reading various reviews and recommendations online. The smaller diameter axle meant that these slipped right in and ran perfectly smooth without any truck modification on a majority of my rolling stock across various brands, such as Life-Like, Bachmann, and Tyco. On the ones that they didn't roll freely, I used the Micro Mark Truck Tuner to clean up the trucks and that solved the problem. Intermountain will probably be my go-to in the future if I ever need to convert additional rolling stock, but my whole collection is done for now. Highly recommended.

    Intermountain Brass. Nickel Plated W.heel Sets

    Are Intermountain 40055 HO 33 Inch Insulated Wheel set Brass/nickel plated wheels durable. Yes they are and they do not have the build up of residue that the plastic wheels that come with the cars do. Yes I do recommend them for people that do not like derailments caused by the build up on the plastic wheels. They also make the cars move much easier. With these wheels the car is easier to pull, thus causing less wear on the engine pulling them. Unless you just like to watch the wheels themselves, no they are not entertaining, however they do enhance the entertainment.

    Great replacement wheels!! I went through the whole 100 in less than 48 hours.

    I used these wheels to replace many cars I had with BAD plastic wheels. This has been a great buy to update my car fleet to metal wheels in preparation for building a layout.
