    Great smoker box but seems to burn the chips too fast.

    I use the smoker box with a Char Broil gas grill from about 2011. This is must have item for any griller. I tried using the water dish that comes with the box and while I like the idea, the chips seemed to burn up right away so now I just fill the whole thing with chips. It took a long time to soak the chips before cooking so I have started to soak the chips beforehand and freeze them to allow for quicker cooking with less prep time. I may be running the grill a little hot however (350 to 400 degrees F in the grill) and the chips burn up in an hour or so. I will try to decrease heat directly under the chips and will see if that makes a difference. After using the smoker box a few times in the past two weeks it discolored from the heat some but otherwise is still in very good ...
