      Listening to the Nipper's voice.

      Because RCA has been an outstanding brand for one hundred years. I own an RCA Victor stereo system, which purchased in March. I have a RCA microcassette record also as well as a RCA alarm clock with a CD player. Over the years I have owned RCA boom boxes and stereo system Also bought a stereo system for my parents. II bought a television set for my wife years ago. I trust the brand.

      Great recorder/player but no auto stop

      The RCA cassette recorder /player works well. I like that it has a counter to let you know where something important is recorded. The only reason I would not recommend it is due to it not having an auto stop feature. I realized after I got the recorder that the auto stop feature is important in some circumstances. I would have (should have) bought one with auto stop. The recorder is still going to be used by me.

      It makes everything sound like the Chipmunks!

      Tape speed is way too fast and cannot be fixed. The cassette player plays every tape way too fast. I am very good with mechanical equipment and I tried everything to get it to work correctly and I failed. The roller and capstan do pinch the tape correctly but the capstan turns way too fast so the tape travels past the tape head way too fast. The 'auto-off' mechanism works properly and everything else about the functionality of the device works correctly but the tape speed is 2, 3, or 4 times too fast. It is like you are playing recordings back at triple or quadruple speed or faster. I purchased this for my Mother months ago and she did not open the sealed plastic package until recently and discovered it did not work correctly. It has been too long since I purchased the unit to send ...

      It's decades old, 40 plus years. I think thats the problem.

      Well, I don't know if it's because of it's age but right now it's performing too too well. It's not recording and sometimes it cuts off while playing a tape. Its new but it's old i'll give it some and see if it will get better.
