I contacted the seller asking if they were stored improperly and they said that it was stored in a ventilated room. I am not sure why the covers smells so gross. I washed them with regular laundry soap in the washer but that did not help. I then went out to purchase "OdoBan" laundry disinfectant/ deodorizer and washed them with that. They still stink. Hopefully over time the smell dissipates??
