      Still the "Best-1" with one tentative caveat.

      I don't know positively if the reports of hummers getting their bills caught within the ports of these feeders is real, or bogus. But, these are such great feeders that I nevertheless drill-out the ports at a 45 degree angle just for peace of mind. I live in the southern California desert and have been feeding hordes of hummers for decades, without incident, even before taking the extra precaution of angling the ports. It's also great that you can buy parts for these feeders…both the bottles and the bases, as needed.

      Good ONLY if defects are corrected!

      These used to be the best feeders, but a manufacturing flaw makes them the worst. The port holes in the base are not totally open and can cause hummingbirds to get their bills stuck and sharp edges can injure their tongues and bills. There is a picture on the internet of a hummingbird actually dead on the feeder because he couldn't free himself from the hole. The holes can EASILY be opened up and cleared of sharp edges with a small round file, drill bit etc. When that is done it is a good feeder, but if not done it is dangerous. The manufacturer should be ashamed to create and sell a product that can actually harm hummingbirds because of negligence and poor quality!

      Brittle but good design

      The fact that I had to buy the replacement detracts from my review - the plastic is on the brittle side, and one of my earlier units broke and the other has cracks in the same place. Wish they could find a more durable plastic. Otherwise I like the design and will buy more if price is right.

      Truly the best!

      I have had this particular feeder for 20+ years and it's the only one I use. I say ONE, but in actuality ,I have several. All the others fall apart. This one is truly the best.

      saved my feeders

      I have purchased over a dozen of these feeders, i like them a lot. Great gifts. Buying replacement bottoms saves me from needing to replace the whole feeder and bottoms do need replacing after time
