The tip is a tiny round point which lets the basket rotate and seal while trying to drain.Pictures show the rectangular end which has worn down on my stoppers and lets it partially block the drain. Other than the stem the basket and rubber seal are excellent quality and well made. Price is super low since it's a 2 pack which wasn't clear and I ordered 2 so I have 4 of them.

I guess they can bypass the P-trap underwater and come up through your kitchen drain unfortunately I live with dirty neighbors who live with cockroaches if you know what I mean, they seem to follow a certain nationality. Apparently, the cockroaches have an affinity for the snatch in other words they apparently do discriminate.
