About this product

Product Information

On this here ship, we follow the pirate's code: No frolikin' in the bilges, no songs about scurvy, and most important, each buccaneer must keep his pistol ready for action at all times. Break the code, me bucko, and you'll be forced to walk the plank. In 'The Big Book Of Pirates', Captain Michael MacLeod and Jamaica Rose teach the fine art of pirateering, from plundering, pillaging, and gambling to digging for buried treasure. A dabble of history, a smatterin' of activities, and a healthy dose of derring-do make this book a must-read for aspiring pirates. AGE: 8+ AUTHOR: Jamaica Rose, aka Christine Markel Lampe, was "kidnapped" by pirates in 1988 when a friend invited her on a pirate cruise. She met her husband, Captain Michael MacLeod aka Michael Lampe, on that first voyage, and they've been pursuing the piratical life ever since. They publish No Quarter Given, a newsletter on all things pirate, and are founding members of the Port Royal Privateers.

Reviews
"The Book of Pirates is both whimsical and wondrous! The reader gets not only history but 'how to' as well. It is a beautifully bound and illustrated volume of everything that a reader might want to know about pirates. "The Book of Pirates is a delightful reference book and easily accessible for younger readers. Jamaica and Captain Michael keep the writing crisp and to the point. Their love of pirate history, of pirate lore of all things "pirate" is clear on every page and even readers who have not had the pleasure of meeting them will know they both possess something about pirates that has remained true over centuries. Something unchanged by myth and legend. They possess the pirate soul."

The seller advertised a high crown hat but sent a low crown hat which is way too small for me. When contacted the seller replied "If you are unhappy with the hat, you are welcome to return it in the original condition and receive a refund." I shouldn't have to spend my time and money because of the seller's mistake which they wouldn't even acknowledge.

I purchased this for my daughter’s birthday. I never received it. I messaged the seller and never got a response. After 14 days EBay refunded my order. I tried to give the seller the benefit of the doubt but there was absolutely no response from them. I ordered part 1 of this book from another seller at the same time and received that book within 3 days (without paying extra for shipping). I am really disappointed, and still have to order this book again for my daughter. Her gift is now late.

  • Awesome Book Full of Fun Pirate Info

I bought this because my son had brought it home from his school library a few times and really liked it. I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes pirates. This book is full of interesting, historical tidbits, types of pirates, pirate flags, booty, everything...formatted in a way that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Has some fun pirate-related jokes in the back of the book
