SynopsisWhile obviously not really the diary of Jesus Christ, here is a first-person account of the life of Jesus by noted Jesuit playwright Bill Cain. The diary places us inside Jesus's consciousness, where the spirit of discovery, surprise, learning, doubt, failure and growth is in sharp contrast to the canonical gospels where Jesus seems, from the start, self-assured and even predestined to fulfill his role. It is a bold attempt to understand the person whom more than two billion people claim as their savior., In The Diary of Jesus Christ, Jesuit Bill Cain brings his talents as a playwright to reimagine familiar gospel stories from the perspective of Jesus. When did Jesus know he was the one? Why did he call the odd group of disciples to follow him? Was Magdalene his disciple or his teacher? Did all of those healings come easily or was there a cost? What did it feel like to die-and to rise? Along the way, we are surprised and moved by the emotional and spiritual immediacy of these stories, and by the opportunity to meet, with new eyes, the central narrator of this "diary," whose self-understanding and sense of mission unfold on the journey. • Encountering a VERY young Jesus!

I decided to buy this after my sister read one chapter to me while we drove to see another sister. I was crying as I listened. Almost finished reading it now. Very different ideas about Jesus than we are used to and not surprised that a wonderful Jesuit wrote it.
