It does button holes but not buttons if there were one feature I'd like to see added would be the ability to lower the presser foot feeder so it can sew buttons. Other than that, I got alittle frustrated with the thread breaking after you pull the fabric out when done, but you got to find the 'sweet spot' by turning the wheel till it releases the thread so once I got that figured out, I didn't have to thread the needle so often.
