    Good universal HO coupler.

    The Magic Mate universal couplers work as described and will couple to either knuckle or older NMRA [I.E. hook horn] couplers. However, there are some limitations: Magic Mates do not work well for 'operations' requiring automatic coupling/uncoupling of cars and they are also difficult to couple on a curve. If on a curve, a modeler will likely need to give the Magic Mates an assist in coupling. Magic Mates do work well in running trains in continuous operation and it is recommended to equip 'transition' cars with Magic Mates at both ends of the car. Magic Mate 'transition' cars greatly ease the coupling of cars equipped with knuckle and hook horn couplers. Working within their limitations as noted, Magic Mate couplers are durable and give long service. It is unfortunate that IHC, the ...
