    I have a Dewalt DWS779 with the N149294 hold down clamp. The seller lists a DWS780 saw with the N149294 hold down clamp in the ad. The two saws are very identical, and the DWS780 N149294 clamp fits and functions perfectly in the DWS779 saw. I wanted two hold down clamps for even better precision cutting, and this will work well for that purpose…

    Dewalt Miter Saw Clamps Function Perfectly In My Older Dewalt DW708 Miter Saw

    I have for years wanted clamps for my older DW708 miter saw but wasn't sure these would work correctly. I had gone so far as gathering materials to fabricate my own version of a quick release clamp using parts of the Harbor Freight quick-release C-clamps. Glad I didn't now. For the price, buying these OEM clamps has worked out better for me. I'm just an at-home retired woodworker that for the few times I might need to clamp a project piece in the saw a quick-release style of clamp isn't really necessary. Just slide the clamp post in the holes provided by the saw, turn the clamps where needed and they are securely locked in place. If I had to nit-pik about anything on these clamps it would be the knobs are a little uncomfortable to grab/turn because of the sharp edges. So I may end ...

    Didn’t match the OEM I already had. Loose fit in saw.

    I have an identical OEM clamp. Bought this to have clamps on both sides of my dewalt 717 saw. This one was machined to different dimensions in the tapered bottom area of the shaft. It was very loose in the saw base hole. Unacceptable. Had to return it. Otherwise it was a match.

    Should have been included with DWS780 miter saw

    A saw this expensive should have come with two of these -- one on each side of the blade. lt seems like an easy decision to make in a miter whose design is intended to make moving back and forth simple and safe.

    Great DeWalt clamp

    This clamp is a genuine DeWalt OEM part. One of these clamps comes with the miter saw, but you have to switch it back and forth depending on which side of the material needs to be clamped. With this additional clamp, you have one on both sides of the blade and it really saves a lot of time during setup. The clamps both just swing out of the way when not in use. I highly recommend this clamp, only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. Small price to pay for the convenience.

    suggestions for improving hold down clamp

    This hold down clamp is acceptable, however if it would have acme (square threads) threads it would be faster to use and more convenient, the threads are too fine for quick use.
