        Standard weight reel that is smooth and reliable.

        If you want an older, very well built reel that is still supported by Shimano, this may be the reel for you. I fish for Walleye, Bass, and Pike in Canada with this reel, and it remains my go to reel. For me, the 2500 size is the perfect all around reel. I own smaller and larger sizes, but my first choice is the 2500 Stradic. It is sturdy, smooth, and mechanically flawless. I have never had a mechanical failure with this reel on a fishing trip. I do routine maintenance on all of my reels, and they never let me down. Used, this reel represents good value compared to the new light weight reels. Look for reels that were used in fresh water and well maintained.
