After getting eBay return department involved, they contacted seller who offered very minimal credit (basically covered tax I paid). I don’t feel credit received, given I paid for something that was supposed to be in mint condition, equaled decreased value of poster - it was more of a formality since eBay contacted seller directly. I accepted credit but feels more like a sad consolation prize when you know you should have won the game but the other team got some calls incorrectly in their favor.

We take extra care when packaging posters which may include securing the plastic caps on each end of the mailing tube with staples. When opening your item, we strongly recommend entirely removing any staples prior to sliding the poster out of your mailing tube. Failure to do so may result in a staple catching an end and potentially causing cosmetic damage to the front and/or back the poster. We would be happy to share photos to any prospective buyer upon request for a better point of reference.
