    About this product

    Product Information

The Nikon F3HP 35mm SLR provides form and function in one durable body. The classic Nikon F3HP was first seen in 1980 when it was known as a favorite among photojournalists. This quality camera offers a professional take on photography in just about every setting. The body is comfortable to hold when using it for longer periods of time. Both amateurs and professionals can use this item to create quality images thanks to Nikon's attention to special features. This Nikon camera’s size is appealing to most photographers with dimensions of 4.5 inches tall and 6.8 inches wide. It weighs in at about 1.5 pounds. The high eyepoint Nikon camera viewfinder is interchangeable and lets you comfortably look through the viewfinder even when you are wearing glasses. Made from aluminum alloy, these Nikon camera casings offer durability for day-to-day usage. There are loads of manual features on the Nikon F3 camera that help it achieve beautiful photos. The camera's manual focus works with the finder, but this selection will also work well with autofocus lenses. A range of popular lenses easily mount and unmount with only a limited amount of effort. Nikon F-Bayonet is the lens-mount type on this model. There is a Nikon F3 zoom feature, which allows the photographer to get the best view of the images while improving depth perspective. With a shutter speed of eight to 1/2000 seconds, blurred images will be a thing of the past. Set the Nikon titanium shutter release to manual or automatic modes depending on your preferences. Information for measurements such as the shutter speed is displayed on the LCD. This easy-to-read selection makes quick work of setting up a great photo. The meter is center-weighted when used at full aperture. This choice makes metering easier for inexperienced photographers.Simply make any adjustments to the Nikon camera with the conveniently located manual buttons. This camera has been a long-term popular choice among skilled professional photographers. These options also make it a great choice for beginning photographers as they learn about photographic exposure techniques that provide incredible creative control. This type of camera also encourages standard settings that can capture a range of images without significant or complicated changes. Use the built-in self-timer for a convenient 10-second delay.Among other prime features, the Nikon F3 body uses alkaline watch batteries that can be changed using a common coin as a tool. The camera will shut off after a period of idling to preserve battery life. It can then be turned on by just pushing the shutter. Attach a strap to carry this device around your neck or on your shoulder when you’re on the move. Film with speeds from ASA 12 through 6400 can be used with this camera for added flexibility. When it comes to the camera body, it provides a secure spot for accessories. A flash, special NIKKOR 50-mm lenses, and a Nikon MD-4 motor drive can be added to the device for customized operational choices. The flash mounts to the top of the casing for better reach and accuracy.

      One of Nikon's best

This was Nikon's last professional grade camera before the F4s, which has more bells and whistles. I have both cameras. [I bought the F4 because of age-affected eyesight--it has focus confirmation and built-in diopter adjustments, but glory be, still traditional controls--not a screen with menus--as well as three metering modes. It, as does the F3, takes all Nikon SLR lenses except perhaps some more recent digital only designs, a reason many have preferred Nikon--lens mounts don't change with each new camera design.] I still prefer the F3 for ease of use and the fact that the viewfinder shows full frame. The viewfinder can be exchanged for others as well as the focusing screen. Viewing magnifiers with diopter adjustment are available. I still enjoy the F4, and it is my choice when I ...

NOT near mint, but generally works

The camera in general works. But it has a few deficiencies that make it not near mint. First the focus sensor has deteriorated around all edges and the edges are gray and unsharp in the view finder. Second, the command dial (main dial for shutter speed and function settings) has problems and will miss clicks and either not change the shutter/setting. Occasionally it will even select in the wrong direction, for example it will go down in shutter speed when it should have gone up! There are also scratches on the body, mostly near the bottom of the camera.

    • Still a Great Camera

The Nikon F5 is well known as one of the toughest and most capable 35mm film cameras. For me, coming back to this body after more than 20 years with high-end DSLR's is not a disappointment. The metering is accurate, the focusing is fast and accurate, and the ergonomics are excellent, with controls falling to hand as they should. The operation is quieter and smoother than some DSLR's because of the damped mirror assembly. The weight is substantial, balancing large lenses nicely. And newer Nikon lenses operate as they should for VR and metering. The motor does use AA batteries quickly, and getting a battery tray without corrosion is important, but this is still a great camera.

    • Excellent!

This camera is awesome. If you’ve ever shot film before and now shoot digital you should get this camera. If you’ve never shot film before you should get this camera. I started with film (canon AE1 program). Shooting digital began to get boring, so I decided to research a film camera and the Nikon F5 is what I to be one the best 35mm film cameras made. So I searched eBay a found one for $225.00. I thought that was a great deal for a full frame professional camera and I was already shooting with a Nikon D7100, so I had lenses. After taking a photo walk to my local harbor and using the built in metering system in the camera to gage my exposure, I quickly went through one roll of film. What a difference from digital. No review of the images, just hope you got it right. Man was that exciting. ...

    • No E (electronic aperature) Lenses

This is perhaps the greatest 35mm film camera ever built. I bought a choice one for about 300.00 so I could use my modern FX (full frame) Nikon lenses on 35mm film when I need to. Sadly it & the latest F6 film cameras cannot operate the new Electronic Iris lenses which are most of the latest Nikon Lenses. I found this out the hard way. SOME modern lenses will work but if the lens has 'E' by itself in the description as in;Nikon 24-70mm VR f/2.8 FX AF-S E N ED the lens will fit but it will remain wide open & not stop down. Identifying these lenses is tricky until you do your research. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Learn from my mistake. There are MANY older auto focus Nikkors which work great on the f5. Still probably the greatest film camera ever made; No regrets & the price is only pennies for what ...
