    Pure simplicity and efficiency

Horace Kephart was an adventurer and writer from the United States. He became an expert in what is called today "Bushcraft", which is nothing more than the crafts needed to live of the land, in the wild or "in the bush." He lived for long periods in the Rocky Mountains, wrote books and designed a knife that is known today as the Kephart knife in honor of his designer. The design of the Condor Kephart is very close to the schematics and drawings left by Horace Kephart and some advertisement from the manufacturer that used to made it under his specifications: Colclesser Brothers, from PA. It is OK for the money.

I haven't actually used it. May be a little light duty for a survival knife. Glad I got it. Added to my collection.

  • Good Bargain

Simple but well made. Not shipped razor sharp but in 5 minutes sharpening time it is likely the sharpest knife I own (like my Old Hickory butcher knife gets). Very utilitarian knife, and understand why Kephart liked it.

  • Knife is great, sheath, not so much

The only problem I have with this knife, is the sheath is too big around the top to grip the knife tight enough to keep it in the sheath. the knife just flops around in the sheath. turn it upside down, and the knife just falls out. I am trying to figure out a way to modify the sheath and tighten it up. The knife is a great knife.
