    Candy Thermometer

    This is the second thermometer we have had--my wife drowned the first one in the kitchen sink after several years of faithful service. Unfortunately, this second unit was defective in that it constantly provided a false message that the battery was low. We continued to use it and it worked flawlessly except for the battery message. I contacted customer service and there were no questions asked--send it back and we will send you a new one. As to how the unit works--it is great on your back as you do not have to bend over constantly to check the temperature. The swivel head allows the user to stand upright and easily see the temperature. If you make a great deal of candy, this product is well worth the money.

    It's OK. But........

    I think this was a good idea but it wasn't well executed. I like the metal shield that protects the thermometer reading window, and I like that it sits far away from the heat from the stove burner. However, the metal clip that's supposed to hold the thermometer in place on the pot, doesn't work too well. The unit easily falls to one side or the other. I haven't tried all of my pots with it, but the one I use for frying is the one I'm having troubles keeping the thermometer to stay put.

    we would purchase this thermometer again

    we use the thermometer for boiling maple syrup and making candy. It is the best thermometer we have found. The batteries last a long time as well.
