    For a little $ more, Consider getting the assembled 41C4220A instead.

    This 41A2817-6 bagged kit contains enough parts to resolve a gear or bearing failure. 3 different bearings enclosed to cover 30 years of garage openers. One bearing is plastic meant to be used at the motor support where there is less of a load. My original is metal and not worn. The original repair kit contains 19 parts. 2 C clips were deleted from these newer 41A2817-6 kits, so these new kits contain only 17 parts (including the grease). My suggestion is NOT to get this kit unless you have a 5/32 punch tool to remove the difficult white gear's hard steel roll pins. The pins go into a soft metal sprocket shaft that easily bends as you are trying to remove these hard pins. A fully assembled gear assembly = 41C4220A cost less than the tool and easy to install to get the garage ...

    Fix your old GDO yourself.

    This contained the worm drive and nylon chain drive gears that I needed and it was fairly easy to replace. There’s also a good video online to tell you exactly how to replace this if you are unsure. Far cheaper and easier than replacing the entire unit.

    Nice replacement, saved a bundle on repair costs.

    When my garage door opener stopped working, I popped off the cover and saw my old gear was shredded. I Googled some opener repair videos and came across one that was similar to mine, and showed how to replace the gear, which looked fairly minimal if you are somewhat handy. New part is in place and opener is working like new.
