It is made of a wood known as red meranti, a very common substitute for Mahogany. It is a great substitute for two reasons. 1 it is strong and structurally stable. 2 it is lighter than mahogany, meaning no neck dive. It does not have a scarf joint, nor added wing tips, it is cut from a solid blank of one piece. Need a neck, this is a very nice 1960s burst profile.
