The diamond stones work great for harder steels; you can create a burr easily. The fine stones give you a very sharp edge, which shaves the hair of your arm. The stones wear as other diamond stones do: after some use, the grit level increases and stays there for a longer period. Note that the diamond stones give no mirror polished edge what Japanese whetstones do regardless it is razor-sharp.
