My 2nd Ooma Tele works fine. Saved a bundle buying it on eBay.

I bought the Telo Air to replace the one that we had (which died a slow death). 3+ years ago when bought the first one, I read that using WiFi on it was a bit "iffy". So I decided to connect it with an ethernet cable. We wanted it in the kitchen area where we can screen calls. The Telo instructions say that for best quality, to place it at the modem (we have a cable modem for the internet). BUT, our modem is in a closet far away from the kitchen, so we used one of the ports on our router and ran the cable to the kitchen . We find that the voice quality during phone calls on our old AT&T wireless handsets is very good. But when we listen to the voice on the Telo speaker, it is so-so. Playback from voicemail is even worse. HOWEVER, Ooma's website allows playback of voicemails and ...

Buy a new unit to ensure clear reception.

Ooma connects quickly and easily, but none of the calls I made were heard well on either end. My Ooma Telo was refurbished ... I now have a new unit and I am hearing my callers clearly, now, but folks on the other end are still hearing interference on their end. I would suggest springing for a new unit to get the best reception.

    • Great value but Call Quality Could Be better

I have a Vonage box for my other line, and bought the Ooma to compare the two. First off, the Ooma takes far longer than the Vonage to make a connection when powered up. The Vonage box may take a minute or so, but the Ooma can take 10 to 20 minutes before it is ready. As for voice quality, the volume of the Ooma is too high. I had to add an attenuator as you will find discussed if you Google "Ooma too loud." Also, there seems to be more noise on Ooma calls than on Vonage calls. Finally, the Ooma service is not "free" and they should stop advertising it as such. At a minimum you pay taxes and fees, about $5 to $6 per month. We signed up for the Premium plan to get the extra features, so the cost is about $15 per month. Still far less expensive than Vonage or Verizon land line.

    • Ooma Telo - Easy to Use

I bought an Ooma Telo device about eight years ago and this purchase was to replace the original unit that quit working. The service Ooma provides is hardly free... you get charged over $6 a month for a variety of fees and taxes. Additionally, for any kind if feature, it costs an additional $129 a year. So...the merchandise was good and the service is OK.

    • Ooma gets a A for this upgrade

This is my 2nd Ooma 1st one was not working correctly & saw this one on eBay for $25 + used so figured I give it a try called customer support for Ooma & had to register it with the new serial # & they had me up and going in about 15 minutes. This same unit at some of the box stores is about $69 + . I like saving money & getting a good deal.
