This motherboard is built by Gigabyte, a manufacturer of industry-leading technology accessories with global distribution. Designed for AMD processors, it's equipped with a wide series of entertainment-enhancing technologies and ports for peripherals. The Gigabyte GA-900FXA AMD Motherboard is an optimal central hub for the operation of a load-intensive computer.Measuring 11 by 13 by 3 inches, the 990FXA-UD3 has an ATX form factor design. It's equipped with an AM3 socket for AMD FX, Phenom II, Athlon II, and Sempron desktop CPUs. For connection to a power supply, it uses a 24-pin port. It has a VRM power design to accommodate high thermal power specifications. This assists in keeping temperatures low during times of heavy loads on the CPU and the board. It sports a 990FX chipset that enables speeds of 5.2 GT per second. This works in tandem with a front-side bus, or FSB, speed of 5200 MT per second for fast data rates between installed components. With four 240-pin DIMM memory connections, it supports up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR3 2000+, 1866, 1333, or 1066 MHz RAM. Users can eliminate stuttering and lag in their resource-intensive applications with this much room for memory cards. Myriad peripherals can be connected to the board as well via four USB 3.0 slots and 14 USB 2.0 slots. It also includes a PS/2 port slot.Keyboards, mice, and speakers can be added with ease for the construction of a multi-functional gaming system. With six audio ports, high-quality dynamic audio can be attained with the 990FXA-UD3. It has an onboard Realtek ALC889 8-channel chipset for this purpose. For device connectivity and online gaming, the unit has a 10/100/1000 Mbps Realtek 8111E LAN unit. Furthermore, six SATA 6GB/s ports allow users to take advantage of a massive amount of storage via installing multiple HDD and SSD units. It also supports RAID interfaces for enhanced storage and faster data transfers. The graphics interface of the unit is constructed with four PCI-E 2.0 x16 and x4 ports. This is accompanied by two PCI Express x1 ports and one PCI slot. These allow for the installation of more than one GPU. Users can use the graphics card of their choice as the motherboard is compatible with various brands. It supports Nvidia Scalable Link Interface, or SLI, and AMD Crossfire technologies for the installation of multiple GTX or Radeon GPUs. These technologies allow graphics cards to engage in parallel processing, substantially improving game and application performance. You can cast to multiple displays through these technologies for the ultimate gaming and productivity platform.Additionally, overclocking a CPU to high GHz levels is made easy by Gigabyte's intuitive and advanced BIOS.     GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard

    great motherboard for AMD, 3rd one down from the top and will run the FX-9590 CPU, works the beast and easiest than any motherboard i have had, only one thing it is a 3 year or so old board and already the CD that comes with it don't work very well with windows 10 and a lot of the programs for some of the specialties on the motherboard don't work, some of the this you can find your self or they just aren't needed anyway, just call it a motherboard that works good, a used one without the CD you only get the 4 software apps for windows 10 at the gigabyte website or find a CD for it, i happened to get a new one with everything so luckily i got the CD

    990XA-UD3 r5 in good condition,works accordind to specs

    First of all, the product I was buying was not anymore available. I accepted to replace it by a similar product 990XA-UD3 R5, with less capabilities.It works well as is. The slowness is bound to the storage media ( hdd at present time) try to improve with ssd. On the previous FXA it was possible to use NVMe with a bios modified, it worked just fine... It seems, it is not possible to do on this old board. It the game!

    Great mobo!

    This is a great mobo for a good price. I only had 1 issue, I run linux and the USB ports didnt want to work right in the OS until I enabled IOMMU in the bios. Overall this was a great board for a great price. This did not come with the I/O plate for the ports/back of the computer but I was able to find one for cheap. If I would have bought this brand new I would have spent over twice as much.

    Gigabyte 990 Series

    This is my flagship motherboard. It is # 1 of all motherboards in my book. I install a AMD FX-4350. Talk about fast. The cpu is running at 4.2 GHZ.. I use a Patriot SSD Hard Drive. I use HyperX Fury 1866mhz memory. Evga graphics card and a evga power supply. I highly recommend this motherboard.

    Good board, but a little finicky with Ubuntu Linux

    I'm probably a fringe user because I'm using this gaming enthusiast board for an Ubuntu install. I had some major issues with USB and PCI devices losing power until I stumbled onto a suggestion to turn on the IMMOU controller. Now all devices work fine except USB 3.0 ports on the back. I'm not using the front USB, so I can't say whether that has power problems or not. Other than the USB 3.0 back ports, I say this board is working great for my purposes.
