    Simple and Effective Tube Amp

    I bought this amp because I needed a 2nd stage amp specifically for my Dobro, but didn't want to spend the money on a 2nd Fender Blues Jr. The price was great, but the amp lacks important features like gain, reverb, treble, bass and mid range controls. It does however, have a volume enhancer foot pedal and a standby switch, which are nice features. I compensated for the lack of gain by buying a Boss Distortion pedal, which I got on e-bay for $35. So overall, I am getting a reasonable facsimile of the tube sound I would from my Blues Jr. for half the price. For what it is and the price you pay, this is a sweet deal if you are willing to purchase a couple of enhancement pedals and prepared to forego a little quality of tone to compensate for it's simplicity.

    Hidden gem - best bang for the buck for valve amps

    I've had this amp for a month now, and love it - it was a great deal, and it sounds so much better than others in the same range, like the Vox AC4 or the Blackstar HT-1. It is a very no-frills, basic amp, but gets the job done well. When it first arrived the sound wasn't quite what I expected, but after replacing the stock valves with some brand names (EL84), it really opened up. Talking about opening up, this little thing is LOUD! I've been using it mostly in low power mode, and it already outputs some serious sound. Oh it also takes pedals really well, but does not have an FX loop. All in all a great little gem, and a perfect practice / small gig amp.
