        Kato SD45

        Kato Locomotives have a really good motor and performance. When this locomotive and its sister SD40 were first produced in the early to mid nineties (30 years ago now) they were the best HO locomotives on the market because of their performance and detail. In more recent times other manufacturers have caught up and have surpassed Kato with their own versions of these locomotives particularly in the detail side and also in digital performance (DCC sound and lights etc) which is not surprising when one considers how things have changed in everything over the last 30years (cell phones?). The other side of this development is that you will be paying more for the latest batch of SD45s from other manufacturers. I have been happy with my other Kato products with a few after market detail ...
