      Roland td-17 module

I recently converted my Tama Starclassic Birch Bubinga drums to electronic using internal triggers and needed a solid module to trigger with. Found a great deal on a brand new one for $490 and took it. The stock sounds are okay enough for practice. But once you start importing your own sounds, it really starts to shine. The cymbals do sound pretty good in my opinion. I use mine to trigger my drum software and it’s works great! Invest in some quality studio headphones and you’ll forget your playing e-drums! The dynamics on the drums and cymbals are quite impressive on this module. I should mention that if you are using an A2E conversion kit, you should also get some 1/4” extension cables because this module does have a cable snake and the floor Tom cable wouldn’t reach my floor Tom. Overall ...

      Go TD-50 or go home!

Pros: Great sounds! Blue Tooth! Affordable! Importing your own sounds! Cons: Very limited sounds! 310 instruments? Half the drum sets use about three sets of toms. Ultimately there are really about five cool drum sets and just various tweaking and shuffling them around. No direct inputs except the auxiliary lines. It's like a 27 pin printer cable connection. I couldn't afford the TD-50 yet, so this was a cheap way to upgrade until I can afford the set I want. I was using a TD-12 and should have just waited. The cymbals are very metallic sounding, which I like because it reminds me of the cheap cymbals on my first acoustic set. I'm a classic rock guy and these sounds are very studioified. If I had it to do over again I would have gotten Superior Drummer and could have picked the drums I ...

    • Best affordable module out there!

Td-17 is the best middle of the road you can get! I put it on my existing td-12 setup and its 100 times better than before! Its super responsive has a great feel and is expandable with downloadable kits on sd card. I have no lag time and its the easiest module ive ever used to setup. Out of the box settings are great and the download kits are even better!

    • Amazing drum module for the price!

This is an excellent e-drum module. The engine/sounds are all based on the Roland TD-50 (which is 5x the price). This is great for the practicing, and light gigging drummer. It works with nearly all available e-drum pads/cymbals. NOTE: It does not work with Roland highest end digital snare (PD-140DS) or digital ride (CY-18DR). I would not recommend it for professional recordings, as it is limited in how the audio can get into a recording workstation.

    • Roland TD-17 - I Really Like It!!!!!

Nice upgrade from my 6+ year old Roland TD-4 module. The leap in features and sound quality was worth the wait (although yes, I waited too long). Large enough display to see what your doing but small enough to keep the entire unit fairly compact. Great quality of sounds and a lot of adjustment options. Easy enough to work (intuative) with limited menus to keep it simple.
