      I'm questioning " velvet " as an accurate description. It's very short napped so it's only "fuzzy." Also it's NOT SOFT AT ALL !!! It's scratchy. Fine wool, as this is supposed to be, doesn't feel like a scrubbing pad. Disappointed.
