The Dunlop MXR Custom Badass ‘78 distortion pedal features high-end electronics that can withstand continual use onstage. It features a hot-rodded classic distortion circuit, giving you the sound of a stack of tube amps piled on the stage. The controls on the MXR M78 let you tweak your tone to get the sound effects you want. The pedal offers three knobs controlling output, tone, and the distortion level. Press the Crunch button to add an extra edge to your sound with harmonic content boosts. You can easily switch the pedal on and off, with the foot button at the base of the device. Enjoy howling treble sounds as you play lead, and get an awesome level of crunch and power in your bass and rhythm tones. Whether you play metal or classic rock, this guitar pedal can deliver great sound. The Dunlop MXR Custom Badass ‘78 distortion pedal comes in an attractive red color and includes input and output jacks on either side of the pedal. It uses 1/4-inch patch cord connections, which are compatible with all electric guitars and amps. For a rich and fully distorted sound, pair the pedal with an overdrive amp and switch on the Crunch button. You can also plug the pedal into other gear such as PA systems, mixers, direct input devices, digital to analog converters, and audio interfaces. However, you should double check compatibility before you plug in and play. If you want to use your pedal on the road, be sure that the voltage levels in your destination comply with the recommended voltage for the pedal. You do not need any additional accessories to enjoy pedals such as the Dunlop MXR Custom Badass ‘78 distortion pedal. You can simply use two patch cords to plug the pedal into your guitar and amplifier. Although the pedal does not include a headphone output, you may be able to plug the pedal into other gear that includes headphone jacks, such as mixers or audio interfaces. You can also use a 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch adapter to plug headphones directly into the MXR Custom Badass ‘78 distortion pedal.     Sweet Badass' Song

    This pedal is exactly what MXR said it is: a pedal the faithfully reproduces late 70's hard rock crunch. Easy to get AC/DC-like crunch. BEAUTIFUL red finish. A bit lighter in terms of metal used for the pedal box but this shouldn't be an issue for anyone who respects their gear for the wonderful stuff that it is. Of course, accidents happen, but what kind of accident would dent or crush a metal box? Chalk something like that up to experience and get another one. If you like 70's Zep, BeBopDeluxe, AC/DC, and numerous chart-toppers from that era, you will love this pedal.

    Impressed, crunchy distortion pedal.

    I bought mine used, works great. You can get an overdrive / distortion hard rock / blues to Classic Rock sound of Bad Company guitarist; Mick Ralph, the late Paul Kassoff of Free. Close to Whitesnake's former guitarist; John Sykes (recording only of Whitesnake self title album). Bottom / Low end heavy crunch. Want mid, adjust tones on amp / guitar, or leave the wah pedal in "on" position, foot pedal forward / down. Last resorts, EQ pedal. Through a Les Paul & Fender 4x10 amp. All depends on the guitarist's preference of sound engineering. Enjoy.

    Wide ranging overdriven tones and distortion

    I absolutely love this pedal! A huge range from boost to overdrive to distortion. Not into the metal zones, but all rock and blues are possible here. Reasonably quiet for a high gain distortion pedal Works best with a tube amp/preamp

    Classic Snarl & Growl

    What can i say? Its a classic and for goid reason. The crunch button doesnt seem to have any effect on the sound but its great sounding regardless: especially before a bigmuff or other fuzzbox to get that perfect sound.
