    All items arrived in zip-lock bag. The pins work great in a Schlage deadbolt. The plug follower was a little tight on the flared end, so I sanded the nylon plastic some for a perfect fit. The key gauge is die stamped, so it has a sharp burred edge. I smoothed sharp edges with a Dremel tool. Overall I'm happy with the set. It's a good value for the occasional re-key or deadbolt replacement. The top pins are standard (not security spool pins) and there are no top springs (as described).

    Great kit! My first time rekeying a padlock. I bought 6 locks for $5 at a garage sale. The catch, no key(s). Thankfully they were all keyed alike and I was able to pick them. Super easy to swap out the bottom pins and rekey to my house key. The key gauge makes it easy to read an unknown key.

    Works very good with a little work

    The set is great. I have re-keyed 3 locks so far with this set. The only issue I had was the follower was a little too wide so the cylinder did not slide in. I had to file the edges a little and then it worked great after that. The gauge decoder also worked perfectly, once I watched a video on how to use it. The removal tool works decent, but I found it best to use it to create a little gap and then pull the tab out with a flat head screwdriver.

    All in all it did a very good job. Worked with Baldwin but not Schlage tapered cylinders

    All in all it did a very good job so it is a high 3 star rating. The kit had plenty of pins which is a 4 to 4.5 star value but the pin follower only worked with the Baldwin door and deadbolt locks with blunt ends. It did not work with the Schlage door lock due to the tapered lock cylinder. The pin follower hollowed end was too narrow and did not allow for a flush fit. A pin cover could not be used. The plastic was a little thin at the hollow end and frayed slightly making a tighter fit. The key tool was not accurate so you need to guess between two numbers for either the Baldwin or Schlage key. THis may be how it is supposed to work. It really did not have any real value. If the pin follower hollow end was designed to fit the Schlage tapered lock cylinder and was sturdier I would ...

    Not great for Schlage door knob rekeys unless you modify the tool

    As the another reviewer noted, tool works great for Schlage deadbolts but not for Schlage door knobs. The tool need to be modified (not very easy if you don't have a Dremel) if you want to use it for Schlage door knob rekeys. I haven't used it for the kwikset stuff so I can't say how well it works there or if the modified tool will still work for kwikset door knob rekeys.

    Did the job we some but not without some effort.

    The slotted end of the follower tool used to keep the top pins in place did not fit the schlage lock oval shape of the lock I had purchased and I had to dremel it out to use it. The tool used to remove the spring retaining clip was not ideal for the task. The ears of the tool need to be a bit longer. The key pin measurer was great. It made choosing pin sizes a snap!

    Good Kit, Follower Tool Issues

    Overall the kit is a good value. The pins are clean and free of any metal chips or shavings. Everything worked well for a deadbolt re-key. You really don't need a cap removal tool, just use a paper clip. The follower tool had to be modified for use for a knob type cylinder re-key.
