I owned another pair of Meindl boots & absoutley loved the fit. No break in period. I typically use the boots for elk hunting out west. First pair lasted me 9 years, so rest asurred these are a high quality boot. I typically wear a size 11-1/2 shoe, but order a 12 in a boot to allow for a thicker sock. The size 12 fit perfectly, even though it is states to order 1/2 smaller than shoe size. Low $
