Switch on side for 720p or 1080p output. No choice for 4:3 vs 16:9 scaling, always 16:9. Overall works alright but image not much better than composite, IMO. Very soft image. Tested with a N64. Adapter does require external power via a micro USB cable, cable included, power adapter not. Short connection from console to adapter box, maybe a foot and a half?

It comes with a Micro B USB power cord and has the option to switch between 720 and 1080. It also needs an HDMI cable. I like that better as I'd rather attach a quality cable to it. The picture and color was significantly better from the composite cord I was using before. No aspect options and will force widescreen unless your TV can change aspect to 4:3 which mine can. Very happy with the purchase, Thank You
