The male threaded portion on the top plate does seem a bit soft when screwing it down. That's really the only concern or complaint I have. The casting of the head is smooth, and so is the finish. Everything tightens down square and straight. I bought it mostly for the handle, with not much hope for the head, and I wasn't disappointed.
