It is painted rather than sprayed, which make it useful for when I want to have high contrasts in shading. Black primer is especially useful for armor, although truth-to-tell I have a model of Wednesday Addams in mind for this; she wears black clothes but has very pale skin. For the skin, I'll likely paint on a thin coat of water-soluble white gesso for my primer.
