The Cisco 1721 router is designed to help companies take full advantage of today's business applications online. The Cisco 1721 offers the tools needed to make a company's online transaction completely secure. This wired router uses Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and firewall technology to offer secure extranet, intranet and Internet access. This router is especially flexible and therefore ideal for use within a company network, as it allows businesses to easily upgrade by using WAN interface cards instead of requiring an upgrade of the entire platform. The Cisco 1721 furthermore supports several WICs. With this router, security is supported by a software-based IOS stateful inspection firewall, as well as an intrusion detection system (IDS) that keeps data private. The symmetrical DSL featured on this Cisco router fully supports the type of advanced routing needs a business requires when they access the Internet. With this type of DSL, quality of service (QoS) as well as performance levels for applications and voice and data integration are of the highest quality.
